Complimentary press credentials are issued only to qualified journalists (reporters, editors, freelance writers, bloggers and news photographers, producers, etc.) working for media outlets relevant to the housing industry.
Non-editorial/paid press registration is available for marketing, public relations, advertising, sales, publishers, book authors, book editors and other non-editorial employees of a media organization who plan to engage in any sales or marketing activities. Satellite media tours (paid or unpaid) are strictly prohibited.
Please note that all press registrations will be reviewed and are subject to approval. Additional information or supporting verification may be required before press credentials will be provided. The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) reserve the right to deny any press applicant if sufficient credentials are not provided.
Print & Online Media:
Reporters, editors and other editorial staff from a print or online media outlet must be able to show either a masthead from a current print publication listing you as an editorial contact, or supply a bylined article published within the last quarter.
Freelancer Writers:
Freelance writers must provide a bylined article related to the housing industry that was published within six months prior to registration. Additionally, to qualify for press credentials, the freelance writer must have written a minimum of three published articles within the last year in an accredited media outlet.
Still Photographers:
Photographers must submit a letter or email from the news organization they are representing describing what they have been hired to cover. Emails must come from the assigning editor's corporate email account. Generic email addresses (i.e. Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.) will not be accepted.
Bloggers:
Press registration for bloggers will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Production Companies:
Production companies must pre-register under the policy on taping during Design & Construction Week and may not register on site. Production crews and broadcast media should refer to the Policy Regarding Production Groups and Taping During Design & Construction Week for a complete list of requirements.
In-house Publication Employees:
In-house newsletter writers, book authors, book editors and publishers do not qualify as working press.
Publishers:
Publishers must register as IBS or KBIS attendees. However, publishers who also work in an editorial capacity for their publication may be considered for complimentary press credentials by demonstrating a regular history of bylined articles written for the publication. Publishers will be granted credentials at the discretion of NAHB and NKBA.
Public Relations Activities Prohibited:
It is the policy of NAHB and NKBA to require all persons requesting complimentary press credentials to disclose, in advance, whether they will be conducting any business other than reporting during Design & Construction Week. This includes, but is not limited to:
Anyone found conducting non-approved activities without prior, written consent from NAHB and NKBA may have their credentials revoked. Individuals solely engaged in sales, marketing or any type of "pay-for-play" activities, qualify as non-editorial press and must register for an attendee registration for IBS or KBIS.
If you have any questions about the policies included herein, or need specific information about IBS, please contact Liz Thompson or Stephanie Pagan. For questions specific to KBIS, please contact [email protected].
Policy on Videotaping During Design & Construction Week
General Policy:
For safety and legal reasons, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and Emerald Expositions, the show manager for KBIS, strictly limit taping at the International Builders’ Show and the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS) during Design & Construction Week.
NAHB and Emerald Expositions require all video and production crews to request permission to record on either show floor, and to apply in advance as either a production company or a videography crew. All production companies and videography crews must pre-register and submit their application by Monday, January 3, 2022. On-site registration will not be available. Local network news crews are the exception to this rule and may register on site.
Anyone planning to record video on the show floor must be pre-approved. Please contact Stephanie Pagan or Liz Thompson with any questions.
A production company is a crew that is taping for a show in current production and booked to air on a recognized network or station.
A videography crew is a camera crew or cameraman contracted by an IBS or KBIS exhibitor to record solely in that exhibitor’s booth for that company’s private/non-broadcast use only.
Producers scouting for a show or others who do not meet these qualifications must purchase Non-Editorial Media/Paid Press passes and may not bring cameras onto either show floor.
Insurance Requirements:
All production companies and videography crews, at their sole cost and expense, must procure and maintain through the term of the 2022 Design & Construction Week, comprehensive general liability insurance against claims for bodily injury and property damage occurring in or upon or resulting from any activities or persons on the premises leased by NAHB and/or Emerald Expositions. Such insurance shall include contractual liability and product liability coverage, with combined single limits of liability of no less than $1,000,000. In addition to submitting an application, all applicants must provide an original certificate of insurance from their insurance company or agent showing the required coverage and naming the National Association of Home Builders; its directors, officers, agents and employees; Emerald Expositions; its directors, officers, agents and employees; and the Orange County Convention Center as additional insureds from February 3-13, 2022.

NAHB Zero-Tolerance Policy for On-Site Soliciting
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) would like to remind all members of the media registered for the International Builders' Show (IBS) and the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS), of its zero-tolerance policy for on-site soliciting by attendees with complimentary working press credentials.
All press registrants require appropriate credentials and are subject to prior approval by NAHB and NKBA.
Working press with complimentary credentials may not solicit business from exhibitors, spokespeople or attendees during the International Builders' Show or the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show. Prohibited activities include, but are not limited to, marketing and sales of satellite tours for or by on-air talent, producers and/or production staff, and marketing and sales of ad space for any publication of any kind by reporters, editors and/or photographers. Anyone found engaging in such behavior will be subject to having their working press credentials revoked immediately. NAHB and NKBA reserve the right to enforce the rules and policies as deemed appropriate. Enforcement of these rules and policies may result in the ejection from the premises of any persons lacking the appropriate credentials and/or registration.
Non-Editorial/paid press registration is available for marketing, public relations, advertising, sales, publishers, and other non-editorial employees who plan to engage in any sales or marketing activities. Please contact Stephanie Pagan or Liz Thompson, if your convention plans include any of these activities and you need to re-register or if you have any questions.
